Oscillation is a festival by Q‑O2 werkplaats, organised by Julia Eckhardt, Caroline Profanter, Dries Robbe, Maryia Kamarova, Ludo Engels, Christel Simons, Cis De Gendt, Carlo Sampaolesi, Gustave Muhozi, and Billy Moisseron.
Based on a collection of weather onomatopoeia and inspired by the enharmonic frequencies of wind, wave glissandi and rain-pitch, Áine O’Dwyer explores the tones of weather through a multi-lingual mimesis while enveloping the listener in pulsed streams of voice, found materials and synthesizer.
Aine O’Dwyer is a multidisciplinary artist whose work blends sound art’s conceptual concerns with traditional composition techniques, embracing sound’s relationship to environment. She has created works for both large-scale and intimate settings, allowing planned and unplanned events to coexist live. Recent works include Poems for Daedalus (Athens, 2018), Poems for Play (a collection of scores for a Jesuit monastery), Accompaniment for Captives (a performance for two fishing boats), Performance for Live Stream (Cafe OTO, 2021), Song of Place (a street opera in Bristol, 2022), and Sing in the Dark (Archipel, 2024). Her album Turning in Space compiles sonic choreographies from her East London home, extending her exploration of Klangfarbenmelodie —a melody split between instruments, binding intrinsic and extraneous sounds in real-time.
