Gabi Schaffner & Markus Stein—Datscha Radio
Bring a portable FM radio if you have one!
Datscha Radio is a nomadic radio station with a focus on arts, ecology, and local knowledge cultures, as well as on radio as a means of sharing and communication. Since 2012, Datscha Radio has been conducting research with gardeners and artists in Germany and the rest of the world. For Oscillation, Gabi Schaffner and Markus Stein will engage radiophonically with the bodies of water of the Wiels Marsh and Hap Park and their visitors. Under the working title Open Circuits , two three-hour open-air radio streaming events will lend their antennae and ears to the worlds of humans and (macro)in/vertebrates alike.
Gabi Schaffner works as a transdisciplinary artist within the realms of radio art, musique concrète, and performance. Since 2012, she has maintained Datscha Radio, a nomadic transmission project that connects the medium of radio to current ecological issues. Much of her work originates from traveling. Otherwise, she is fond of sparsely populated landscapes, mental composting, and the iridescences of poetics. Gabi Schaffner lives (mostly) in Berlin.

Hailing from Berlin, Markus Stein (AKA DJ SchluchT) has been working at DIY Church as one of their unpaid interns for more than 10 years. He made a name for himself with abstract social behavior online and in real life, as well as with naive ghost coding and tape looping. He is enthusiastic about underwater landscape painting, networked waves, and content management systems. Currently, he is wasting time with obsolete copy machines and printing out the internet on them.
